The Women in Entrepreneurship summit aims to bring together the leading WER community to Brussels with a high-profile summit celebrating entrepreneurship, innovation and the transatlantic relationship, between the EU and US.

Through the Women in Entrepreneurship Roadshow, European Young Innovators Forum (EYIF), has been able to identify the top challenges faced by women entrepreneurs when trying to access funding, and also has enabled in the creation of supportive network of like-minded women founders and investors in Europe.

The summit aims to solidify these achievements by bringing together 300 high profile attendees in the heart of Europe; from policy makers to women entrepreneurs in a two-day event that will open the gate to new funding opportunities, and build new relationships and bridges within the entrepreneurial community and beyond.

The summit will compile of five sections, to ensure its success:

1. INVESTMENT SUMMIT, including pitching clinics and  an investment forum with high profile investors.

2. SESSIONS BY INVESTORS, PARTNERS AND FOUNDERS, including an InvestUS and lightning talks from inspiring EU and US

3. NETWORKING, with a meet and greet cocktails and mentoring sessions

4. POLICY recommendations and best practices to be presented at the summit in the “Barriers to Finance for European Women Entrepreneurs,” with a diverse Steering Committee to help shape and structure

5. EU INSTITUTION DAY that will provide attendees with an inside look into how EU policy applies to startup and innovation.

Steering Committee

The Steering Committee is compiled of an array of diverse representatives from the EU and US startup and innovation ecosystems, to ensure that the appropriate avenues of knowledge and expertise are applied during the planning and execution of the summit.

Nicholas Zylberglajt // President of EYIF

Nicholas is the Co-Founder and President of the European Young Innovators Forum, the leading foundation for Youth Innovation in Europe. He also co-founded EU Startup Services, EYIF’s consulting company aimed at supporting European startups to secure EU funding having supported more than 1350 Startups in more than 20 EU countries.

Jorge Muñoz // WER Director

He has a strong background in Marketing, Advertising and Public Relations having worked in different European countries such as the UK, France, Belgium and Spain. He is the current Director for Marketing and Communications at Unmanned Life, Jorge was a Key Account Manager at one of the world leading advertising agencies, Saatchi & Saatchi, from Publicis Media Group, where he was responsible for key accounts across different B2C and B2B fields coordinating the work of different departments such as Art Direction, Design, Finance and Executive. He has managed multi-million euro and international campaigns for top Brands such as Nestlé, Nespresso, Perrier, San Pellegrino, Lexus, among others.

Dija Pandor // Communications and Engagement Lead of the Women in Entrepreneurship Summit

Dija joined EYIF in September 2019, as a Communications and Social Media Officer, she oversees planning, research, and implementation for the summit promotional campaigns and external press engagement.

She has over five years of experience in journalism and media communications. Previously, she worked at the European Parliament‟s DG Comms, during the 2019 Election Campaign „This Time I‟m Voting‟, the UK Cabinet Office’s Government Digital Service – which oversaw the digital transformation of HM government, and for BBC News and Weather. She holds a BA Honours degree in Journalism from the University of the Arts London.

Alice Zagury // CEO/Co-Founder The Family

Alice is the CEO and co-founder of The Family – a strategic, minority long-term shareholder for startups. Like any great family, it educates, protects, and supports its members. Alice has been very involved in making the startup ecosystem much more women-friendly at every level: founders, employees, investors, and more, through initiatives such as Goldup.co and Madrinas.

Anita Jennings // Programs and Exchanges Assistant Grants Manager U.S. Mission to the European Union

Anita joined the Programs and Exchanges Unit as a Programs Assistant and Grants Manager with a focus on economic issues in January 2019. In this role, she initiates, develops, and implements public outreach strategies on trade, economic policy, innovation and entrepreneurship in cooperation with think tanks to develop speaker programs and liaises with partner organizations to review and manage grants requests.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Keele University (U.K.) and a master’s degree from the London School of Economics (L.S.E.), where she specialised in European Institutions and the Political Economy of East European Transitions

Loubna Azghoud // Gender equality and economic expert

Loubna is gender equality and economic expert, she is in charge of the Women Entrepreneurship Strategy for the Brussels government and runs Women in Tech.Brussel, the first women tech ecosystem in Europe. Its mission is to empower women to create their own startups, increase the female presence in the innovation sector and facilitating their workplace inclusion. Loubna founded the “Women Code Festival” the first female tech festival in EU. She is also part of the “WeGate”, the European Commission platform supporting women entrepreneurs and exchanging best practices between European countries.

Aimee Apel // Regional Startup Accelerator Lead, DACH at Climate-KIC 

Aimee is a San Francisco native currently based in Berlin, Germany and is the DACH Accelerator Regional Lead at EIT Climate-KIC. With her team, she supports early stage cleantech startups across Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Aimee has a background in entrepreneurship and shaping programmes built to accelerate startup growth and success. Previously, Aimee worked at non-profit accelerator programme in San Francisco which supported small business owners across the US located in or serving low-income communities. Prior to that she worked at global tech accelerator programme Techstars in Berlin where she supported the first food/travel/and hospitality cohort powered by corporate partner METRO Cash & Carry.
She holds a BA in Communications and German Studies from Sonoma State University in California and an MA from the Technical University of Chemnitz.

Salomé Taieb // Godfather Community The Family

Salomé manages investor relations at The Family. While doing so, she’s seen the extent to which women are not represented in angel investing. Alongside Alice, she created Madrinas – a community of women willing to learn together how to invest in startups. The first workshop is happening on 20th January and will bring women together with incredible guests to discuss and learn from each other.

Klara Menzel // Project Manager for the Women in Entrepreneurship Roadshow and Summit

Klara joined EYIF in February 2020 as Project Manager. She holds a BA in Management and an MSc in International
Development and has previously worked for an art residence and several event companies. Her main areas of interest
are within the human rights and sustainable development field, and she has been involved in several volunteering
projects as well as the Amnesty International society in Dublin. By working for EYIF, she hopes to facilitate the success of women founders and entrepreneurs internationally.
